Lady Gaga?s Guy Says: "Be Normal!"

gagitk1_wide.jpg
Lady Gaga?s boyfriend of six months, Taylor Kinney, has told her to check her alter ego at the door when she?s with him. ?Gaga started living and breathing her character 24/7 because she felt her fans wanted that,? dishes a source to In Touch. Too bad Tyler, 30, didn?t.

While he held his tongue at first, he?s now comfortable enough with Gaga, 25, to make it clear he has no desire to live with a stage act. ?Taylor has convinced her that he loves the real Stefani,? says an insider to In Touch. Luckily for him, the singer promised to be ?more human? ? after all, she wasn?t born that way!

Phew! Panic over... Mark Wright insists: "I will always be there for Arg"

When TOWIE returned to our screens on Sunday night there was a big Mark Wright shaped hole, which was made even more noticeable when Arg was going through a rough patch with Lydia and had nobody to turn to.

Mario gave him a little, ?everything?s going to be alright? pep talk, but it didn?t really cut the mustard.

In fact fans of the show were so concern to see James looking lonely and heartbroken that they bombarded Mark Wright we Tweets accusing him of abandoning his pal in his time of need.

Mark ? pictured yesterday afternoon leaving The Ivy restaurant in London after lunch with his manager ? hit back:

?Ahh poor@RealJamesArgentI'm here with him now so it doesn't matter!! I may not be on the screen with him but never not here 4 him.?

Taylor Lautner Out Of 'Stretch Armstrong'

'Twilight' star drops out of big-screen adaptation of elastic Hasbro toy.

Bad news for those looking forward to seeing Taylor Lautner as super bendy, slightly superheroic "Stretch Armstrong": He's officially out of the big-screen treatment of the popular '70s Hasbro toy.

MTV News confirmed Lautner's departure with a source close to the production. According to The Wrap, Lautner had to drop out of the film due to scheduling conflicts. The "Twilight" heartthrob is reportedly set to begin work on an independent film with Oscar-winner Gus Van Sant.

Relativity Media announced Monday (January 30) that it will take over production of the film from Universal. The studio has inked a distribution deal with Hasbro. The movie was originally slated to be released in 2012, but it will now hit theaters on April 11, 2014. A new cast is expected to be announced shortly.

When MTV News asked Lautner about "Stretch Armstrong" last year, he seemed excited to explore the unknown with "Armstrong," since the film version is a brand-new concept and not a reboot or sequel. He also admitted that the character's superpower — the ability to stretch one's body parts to extremes — is hardly super at all.

"It's like the worst superhero power, possibly, to get, and how you're going to take that and use it for good and how you're going to be creative with that [is the predicament]," Lautner said. "The awesome thing with toys is it doesn't give you a story line, so you get to create it."

Although no creative decisions have been made yet, "Muppets" and "Get Him To The Greek" screenwriter Nick Stoller was originally attached to write the script and has said the film would be an origin story similar to the tone set in "Iron Man."

'Dark Knight Rises': Who Is Joseph Gordon-Levitt Really Playing?

Is John Blake the next Dark Knight, Robin or someone else entirely? We discuss in The Weekly Rising.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

Joseph Gordon-Levitt films a scene of "Dark Knight Rises"

Who the hell is John Blake?

It was the question most of us asked when Joseph Gordon-Levitt joined the cast of "The Dark Knight Rises" last year. The little bit Warner Bros. told us labeled Blake as "a Gotham City beat cop assigned to special duty under the command of Commissioner Gordon." It's not exactly the kind of character description you'd expect from such a big-name actor in one of Christopher Nolan's Batman films.

Such a nondescript character begs the question: Who is he really? We did the same last week with Marion Cotillard's Miranda Tate, and this week, we're taking a deep dive into just who this mysterious man in blue might be.

A short while after Warner Bros. revealed John Blake as a character in "The Dark Knight Rises," hard-core comic book nerds did their due diligence and found the one trace of the name that dates all the way back to 1942. Little Johnny Blake appears in an issue of "Batman," where Joker goes around making the people of Gotham cry, one citizen at a time. Poor Johnny Blake had just received a great report card, but the Joker comes along and snatches it. Now Dad will never believe him!

If we're going to speculate, it's safe to assume that Nolan won't surprise everyone with a gritty, realistic take on the whole "stolen report card" story line. There's no hard evidence other than the shared named that Gordon-Levitt's John Blake has anything to do with the unfortunate, terrorized little boy from the comics.

With the source material more or less a dead end, that leaves the vague official character description and two of the Internet's favorite theories. One posits that Blake will be a much more rugged Robin. Another hypothesizes that he will don the Batman cowl after Bruce Wayne dies or retires.

Fans have been quick to cry "Robin!" since "Batman Begins." (What's the Dark Knight without his young ward, after all?) But there is nothing that Nolan has been as adamant about as his conviction to never feature the Boy Wonder in his Batman films. Yet, Robin champions abide, even finding false clues of his presence in the "Dark Knight Rises" trailer. Nolan said he won't include Robin, so there's little reason to suspect him of doing anything else.

More daring theorists guess that Blake will go through the majority of the movie as the beat cop he's described to be but eventually become the new Batman once Wayne is out of the picture, either due to injury or — gulp — death. Supporters of this theory point to Bane's legacy of destroying Batman and Wayne's use of a cane in the trailer.

I find myself not only favoring the second theory, but actively hoping that it comes to fruition. So much of the lead-up to the film has centered on the idea of "the legend." Ra's Al Ghul speaks in the trailer about Wayne becoming more than a man. "The Legend Ends" even adorns the most recent poster, yet the two messages directly contradict each other. If Wayne commits himself to an ideal, he'll become an unstoppable legend, and the entire concept of Batman demands that the legend cannot end. What better way to prove that point than to break Wayne, remove the man and yet have the legend continue?

Gordon-Levitt's inclusion in the cast essentially requires Blake to play a major role, more than any official description would allow him. Bet on Blake being a big part of the film, but what the role may entail will only be answered in July.

What would you like to see from Joseph Gordon-Levitt in "The Dark Knight Rises"? Let me know on Twitter via @KPSull!

Ferris Bueller Super Bowl Ad Likely A Honda Commercial

Matthew Broderick may be returning to classic 1986 role, but this time behind the wheel of a CR-V.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

A 10-second preview of a Super Bowl ad took the internet by storm on Thursday. The clip featured actor Matthew Broderick throwing open the curtains of a window, looking into the camera and asking, "How can I handle work on a day like today?"

That's before the classic "bow-bow-chicka-chicka" from "Ferris Bueller's Day Off" plays, ending the preview with just the date of the Super Bowl left to tease us.

It seems clear that Broderick reprises the role of Ferris Bueller, but the preview told us nothing else. The YouTube video listed no company and didn't suggest the product that the ad would ultimately feature.

MTV News reached out to both Broderick and one of the producers of "Ferris Bueller's Day Off," Tom Jacobson, for comment, but neither responded to our requests.

Then Friday (January 27), the automotive blog Jalopnik reported that a source "familiar with Honda's operations" revealed that Ferris will appear in a commercial for the car company during the Super Bowl. "The source also added that the spot was going to mimic much of the original film, except this time prominently featuring Hondas," Jalopnik reported. "The big jump the two valets do in Cameron's dad's Ferrari? We hear this time it's going to be a Honda CR-V."

Jalopnik's source also said Honda apparently put a lot of money behind the ad, even going as far as to hire "The Hangover" director Todd Phillips to create the spot.

Although the Honda story sounds likely, we will have to wait until February 5 to find out exactly what Ferris has been up to.

Kardashian Family Friend Kathy Lee Gifford: ?Kim Needs To Get Out Of The Spotlight!?

kimk1_wide.jpg
With her E! reality show, clothing lines, books and many endorsements, it?s safe to say that Kim Kardashian is one of the most exposed celebrities in the world. But longtime family friend Kathie Lee Gifford thinks the newly single socialite needs to step down and take a break from the business.

?If Kim truly wants to be happy, she needs to get out of the spotlight for a long time,? the morning show hostess ? the godmother to Kim?s younger sisters Kendall and Kylie ? told In Touch at the Today show?s 60th anniversary party in New York. ?However long it takes to regroup and re-find herself.?

Kathie Lee even blames Kim?s obsession with the limelight for the demise of her 72-day marriage to Kris Humphries. ?She was all caught up in the planning on it. So many people were expecting and counting on her,? the no-nonsense star, who has been married to Frank Gifford for over 25 years, explained. ?And a marriage is not about other people. A marriage is about two people getting married.?

Despite her questionable decision-making, Kathie Lee insists Kim is a ?very sweet girl,? and warns fans of the famous family?s hit show that things aren?t always as they seem on the small screen.

?Remember, it?s called reality television, but there?s no reality to it. It?s a show,? she says. ?The reality is very different than what you see on TV.?

Is 'Hunger Games' YA's Best Chance For A Best Picture Oscar?

As Harry Potter weathers his final Academy snub, Hobnobbing wonders if Katniss Everdeen can carry the genre's mantle.
By Amy Wilkinson

Jennifer Lawrence in "The Hunger Games"
Photo: Lionsgate

"The Hunger Games" star Jennifer Lawrence set aside her flaming bow and arrow in favor of a gilded envelope Tuesday morning to announce the 2012 Oscar nominations alongside Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences President Tom Sherak. And sadly — though not entirely surprisingly for young-adult-literature aficionados — the "Harry Potter" franchise was once again (and for the final time) overlooked for a Best Picture nomination.

Which raises the question: Does the Academy have something against YA adaptations?*

Curiously, adaptations have historically been strong performers at the Academy Awards. Past statuettes have gone to the literary likes of "All Quiet on the Western Front," "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" and "Silence of the Lambs." And this year's contenders are no different. Six of the nine Best Picture nominees, including "The Descendants," "Hugo," "The Help," "Moneyball," "War Horse" and "Extremely Loud & Incredibly Close," can be found lining the shelves of your local Barnes & Noble, while five of last year's 10 nominees were also based on bound works, according to USA Today.

The side of the equation, then, troubling Academy voters seems to be the "young adult" variable. Though to be fair, there's not much of a precedent for awards recognition seeing as mining teen lit for film fodder is a relatively new phenomenon. Sure, there are exceptions like S.E. Hinton's "The Outsiders" (made into a film all the way back in 1983, starring Matt Dillon and Patrick Swayze), but for every "Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist" or "The Princess Diaries" there are tens (if not hundreds) of seminal works, like "The Catcher in the Rye" or "Are You There God? It's Me, Margaret," languishing in pre-production hell or undeserved obscurity as far as film financiers are concerned.

Which leaves us with "The Hunger Games," the latest YA sensation, which blazes into theaters in less than two months. And while it's hard to predict the awards-season viability of a movie we haven't even seen yet, there are at least a few indicators to suggest it could be the first YA novel adaptation to win (or at the very least be nominated for) Best Picture. For one, Oscar's already made acquaintance with many members of the cast and crew. Our friends at NextMovie crunched the numbers, discovering that the actors and technical experts behind "The Hunger Games" boast 30 Oscar nominations — even Effie Trinket couldn't turn her nose up at that. And while a film like "Twilight" (which, let's be honest, won't be sharing a feather-strewn canopy bed with the Academy anytime soon) focuses on a fantastical, star-crossed-lovers plotline, "The Hunger Games" deals more seriously with issues of life, death and government control, likely giving it more credence with voters.

Though most of the above could surely have been said of "Harry Potter," it apparently wasn't meant to be. Hopefully with "The Hunger Games" (and the slew of approximately 4 million teen novels in various stages of adaptation) the Academy will begin recognizing artful YA adaptations as the deserving films that they are. Because we already do.

Do you think "The Hunger Games" is blazing a path for YA novel adaptations? Sound off in the comments below and tweet me @amymwilk with your thoughts and suggestions for future columns!

*Whether, in fact, "Harry Potter" constitutes YA is a topic of much debate in and of itself, though for the sake of this piece, I assert that the final novel's dark tone and subject matter secure its spot at the teen table.

'Red Tails' Proves All-Black Cast Can Soar At Box Office

'I feel like this was a matter of just proving them wrong,' Ne-Yo tells MTV News of the George Lucas-produced flick.
By Rob Markman

Ne-Yo in "Red Tails"
Photo: Lucasfilm Ltd.

It wasn't easy getting "Red Tails" into theaters, but singer/actor Ne-Yo believes that after opening at #2 at the box office, it was well worth the fight.

"I feel like we definitely did what we set out to do, which was make sure these incredible men, the Tuskegee Airmen, got the recognition that they deserved for the incredible things that they did for this country," Ne-Yo told MTV News of the George Lucas-produced film on Wednesday. "And [we] proved to Hollywood that an ensemble cast of black faces can put asses in the seats, basically," he laughed. "So I feel like we served our purpose."

"Red Tails" tells the story of the Tuskegee Airmen, a group of African-American fighter pilots who battled deep-rooted racism, while fighting in World War II. Both Terrence Howard and Cuba Gooding Jr. star in the flick, while Ne-Yo, Method Man and Tristan Wilds have supporting roles. The historical piece hit theaters January 20, the Friday before Martin Luther King Jr. Day and opened second behind "Underworld: Awakening." Not bad for the singer/songwriter, who was also named senior vice president of A&R at Motown Records.

Considering the movie wasn't especially well-received by critics, "Red Tails" did well in its first weekend, surpassing initial expectations. Lucas appeared on "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" earlier this month and claimed that major studios showed no interest in the film when he went to pitch it.

"It's because it's an all-black movie," he said. "There's no major white roles in it at all. It's one of the first all-black action pictures ever made."

"We've come a long way from when Martin was marching in the streets and getting rocks thrown at him. We've come a very, very long way," Ne-Yo said. "However, even with that being said, we got a long way to go. As a black person, period, we're kinda constantly in a state of proving, which is something that I came to wraps with a long time ago."

Despite the studios' lack of interest in the film, Ne-Yo decided to let the success of "Red Tails" speak for itself. "At the end of the day, you complain about it, or you prove them wrong," he said. "I feel like this was a matter of just proving them wrong."

Check out everything we've got on "Red Tails."

Newly single Harry Styles swamped by female fans in LA?

It?s like we?re rubbing salt in poor Caroline Flack?s wounds with these pictures, aren?t we?

Oh well. Yes, after admitting thathe and Caroline had parted companythis week (he claims it was a ?mutual decision? to break up while other sources claim that he dumped her), Harry Styles has jetted over to LA along with rest of his One Direction bandmates.

The boys are in America to film an appearance on a TV show, but it already seems as though they have a growing fan base over there. A group of frenzied teenage girls, who no doubt squawked like panicked birds when they saw the boys, were spotted waiting outside the group?s hotel eagerly waiting to meet their idols.

And of course One Direction were only too happy to pose for photographs with the girls. Well, we say happy but away from the crowds Harry actually looked pretty glum as he chatted away on his mobile phone.

Lately it?s been rumoured that Jennifer Aniston has a bun in the oven, but if she does then we certainly couldn?t see the tiniest hint of a baby bump when she took to the red carpet for the Directors Guild Awards over in the US last night.

The former Friends star wore a skin tight little black dress for the occasion, which would make a bump pretty hard to hide indeed.

But let?s not rule the pregnancy rumours out though because otherwise we wouldn't be able to spend the next few months speculating about it, and as we all know life without speculation is dull.

Stars Hit Sundance!

sundance1_wide.jpg
Celebrities braved the snow and flocked to the Sundance Film Festival, but the films weren't the only hot tickets in Park City, Utah, this year.

The place to be seen in the day was definitely T-Mobile's The Village at the Lift where celebrities like Kate Bosworth, Liv Tyler and Victoria Justice could enjoy McCaf lattes, hit up the uber cool Puma Social Lounge or get Mac makeup touchups.

But what would Sundance be without mentioning the swag?! The biggest celebs were gifted everything from Soul headphones at the Miami Oasis Lounge, Solstice designer sunglasses at the Gen Art Bertolli Meal Soup Chalet, the new Nintendo 3DS at its gaming lounge and sexy DL1961 Premium Denim at the Talent Resources Suite. But the winner for the best celeb lounge had to be the Vevo Sorel lounge, where almost every hot celebrity stopped by even The Bachelor's Ben Flajnik, who received several of the brand's hottest snow boots. But the biggest swag of all was at the Fender Music Lodge where Emily Blunt was gifted a trip to Vomo Island Resort in Fiji!

In the evening, stars Christina Hendricks and Tommy Lee dined at ChefDance where some of the world's leading chefs prepared a different delicious menu every night. The best part was the Yogurtland station for dessert as guests left. After dinner, the hottest acts in music today such as Ludacris, Deadmau5 and OneRepublic preformed at Park City Live and Drake at Bing Bar. Common also hosted an exclusive Express concert for his Sundance film LUV.

Also worth mentioning were the Grey Goose Blue Door Lounge and Acura Studio which served as the exclusive A-List lounges for several film dinners and after-parties. Rashida Jones, James Marsden and Emma Roberts were all spotted partying the night away at the lounges while sipping cocktails til 2 a.m.

For the late-night celebs, the hotspot was the T-Mobile Presents Google Music at Tao. Nick Lachey, Drake, Paris Hilton and Kirsten Dunst were all spotted at the pop-up nightclub getting their groove on and trying not to be seen.

Jennifer Lopez snuggles with her toyboy...again

Ok ok Jennifer, Jenny, J-Lo or whatever you want us to call you, we get it. You have a toyboy, he is cute and you are all over him. It?s boring no one cares.

Well, ok we do care but seriously, you look like the cat who?s got the cream and that is never a good look.

We snapped her yesterday as she was shot by photographer Mario Testino at a hotel in Miami Beach, Florida, wearing just a white swimsuit.

Seriously though is this woman real? She?s 42, had twins and looks about 20. Judging from the bits of the shoot we can see, she?s looking pretty steaming hot. Also judging by the way toyboy aka Casper Smart was gazing longingly at her, the swimsuit really suited her.

We can?t imagine how her ex husband Marc Anthony would feel seeing these pics but we don?t even know her and they make us angry.

'Man On A Ledge': The Reviews Are In!

Effects work 'frighteningly well' but 'premise is so devoutly ridiculous,' critics say.
By Kara Warner

Sam Worthington in "Man on a Ledge"
Photo: Summit

If your impressions about the new action thriller "Man on a Ledge" are based on the film's very-literal title, you're very likely correct in assuming to know a decent amount about the film before entering the theater. "Ledge" is the story of ex-cop and fugitive Nick Cassidy (Sam Worthington), whose seemingly obvious suicidal plan to jump off a building is slowly revealed to be something much more.

Thus far, the critical reception for the film is very different from initial audience reactions. The Rotten Tomatoes Tomatometer has "Ledge" at a 22 percent fresh rating from critics, versus a 65 percent fresh audience rating.

Read on to see what has the two viewing bodies so divided as we sift through the "Man on a Ledge" reviews:

The Premise
"It's an arresting image, Sam Worthington out on that 40th-story ledge. He's a fairly tough-looking guy, after all, and we know him best as the tooth-gritting blockbuster hero of 'Avatar' and 'Clash of the Titans,' so it's head-spinning to see the man's beefy figure as a speck hovering so precariously close to New York's infinite sky. The camera swirls around Worthington's disgraced former cop Nick Cassidy, inching out past that thin strip of architecture, then back in. What if he trips, or jumps? For a while, anything seems possible, and it's both exhilarating and terrifying. Then the wool comes off, and it's clear that director Asger Leth and screenwriter Pablo Fenjves have ambitions considerably less grand than their protagonist's perch. Cassidy's ledge game — with all the studio-unfriendly moral ambiguities it entails — is just a con, a photo op for the crowds, and Nick's apparent desire to exit the material world is a front. What he truly, passionately wants to do is steal some jewelry." — Andrew Lapin, NPR

The Impact of Practical Effect
"I, on the other hand, was gripping anything in reach, palms dripping, thinking I might not have survived the effects had they been 3-D. Though there were other production sites, serious time was spent actually shooting on that 14-inch ledge wrapping the 21st floor of the Roosevelt Hotel to create the vicarious sensation of being there. Which worked frighteningly well, at least for the vertiginous among us. Oh, that the actual human dynamics of the unfolding story could have been as dramatic, as on the edge as that ledge." — Betsy Sharkey, Los Angeles Times

The Direction
"Mr. Leth, the son of renowned Danish documentarian Jorgen Leth, has directed only one other film, 'Ghosts of Cité Soleil,' a highly stylized doc that revealed a soul yearning to breathe free of nonfiction. He has an instinct for weaving sturdy narrative fabric out of intersecting plot lines. ... Amid the hoopla, Mr. Leth takes sobering assessment of media-circuses and mob mentalities: The people down below taking cellphone pictures, the ones yelling 'Jump!'; the callous nature of cops for whom it's all routine. There's the occasional goofy grace note: Kyra Sedgwick, playing a voracious and obviously Anglo television reporter named Suzie Morales, rolls the 'R' in her surname as she signs off, just in case someone missed the point (we've all heard it). In another scene, Mr. Leth takes such pains to strip the shapely Ms. Rodriguez down to her underwear that audiences, who may well be leering, will also be laughing at how obvious it is." — John Anderson, Wall Street Journal

The Final Word, Pro/Con Style
"Director Asger Leth, making his U.S. feature-film debut with 'Man on a Ledge,' keeps the pace brisk and never allows the tone to stray into self-seriousness, which is crucial for a movie whose premise is so devoutly ridiculous. The script, from Pablo F. Fenjves, provides enough feints and twists to keep us engaged. Jamie Bell and Genesis Rodriguez aren't the most believable of couples, but there's a screwball charm to their comic routine as amateur thieves charged with aiding Nick's scheme. (Leth can't resist inserting an entirely superfluous — but nonetheless greatly appreciated — scene of the criminally gorgeous Rodriguez stripping down to a thong in the middle of a heist.) Worthington makes for a likable populist protagonist, even if his Australian accent betrays him on copious occasions, and Harris' disturbingly emaciated frame lends an added menace to his devious plutocrat villain." — Thomas Leupp, Hollywood.com

"Like last year's action comedy 'Tower Heist,' 'Man on a Ledge' becomes something of a parable of the 99 percent, with Cassidy initially an object of prurient interest for the massed crowds below, then becoming a blue-collar folk hero. That gives the movie at least a frisson of contemporary relevance, but the filmmakers blow that advantage with plot and characterization that require not just a suspension of disbelief but a suspension of eye-rolling reflexes and the nagging impulse to burst into derisive laughter." — Ann Hornaday, Washington Post

Five Ways The SAGs Predicted The Oscars

So much goes into predicting and ultimately deciding Oscar nominations that it can be difficult to decide which award shows to pay attention to and which to ignore. This week's Oscar nominations, however, proved that one award show in particular can be very useful in predicting some of the Academy's more surprising picks.

Former Bachelorette Winner Jesse Csincsak?s Episode 3 Recap

bachrecap12.jpg
The Hollywood 3-Ring Circus = THE BACHELOR

Otherwise known as the Train wreck of a Honda commercial.

I want to start of by saying I have talked to Shawntel Newton on the phone many times and she is a great girl, very grounded and down-to-earth! Her going back on the show takes balls! She literally jumped right in on the chopping block and I have nothing but respect for her.

What most people don't realize is that lots of ex-Bachelor contestants date after being on the show. They meet at reunions and whatnot. So Shawntel coming back makes total sense because she probably knows Ben [Flajnik] better than most of the girls on this season!

Just a few words to Courtney, the so-called model: What you have yet to understand, honey, is that this show is straight Hollywood and will be over before you can blink your eyes without worrying what you?re doing! So everything that you say and do, you will be judged and everyone seems to hate you for your snotty actions! If I were you, I would realize that this ride you?re on is about to be over and PULL YOURSELF TOGETHER, SERIOUSLY!

As for the rest of the girls on this season, your actions from tonight showed a huge lack of confidence and class on your part. GROW UP! You think Shawntel is going to be the only girl to roll up to Ben and say ?heeeeeyyyyyy cutie!? Get used to it and if you don?t like it then LEAVE. Brittney caught onto the nonsense, pulled the plug and left! I think I speak for everyone who has ever been on this show when I say we applaud you, Brittney. Much love!

Ferris Bueller Super Bowl Ad Likely A Honda Commercial

Matthew Broderick may be returning to classic 1986 role, but this time behind the wheel of a CR-V.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

Matthew Broderick as Ferris Bueller in a Super Bowl tease

Don?t get over excited, but Brad Pitt & Angelina Jolie might get married soon?

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie have always maintained that they won?t get married unless marriage for same sex couples is legalised in all American states.

Now, however, Brad has suggested that they?re about to sacrifice their principles and get hitched anyway. In an interview with the Hollywood reporter Brad said:

"We?d actually like to [get married], and it seems to mean more and more to our kids. We made this declaration some time ago that we weren?t going to do it till everyone can. But I don?t think we?ll be able to hold out. It means so much to my kids, and they ask a lot. And it means something to me, too, to make that kind of commitment.

?I?m not going to go any further. But to be in love with someone and be raising a family with someone and want to make that commitment and not be able to is ludicrous, just ludicrous.?

Yes, just as ludicrous as it is for gay couples who have kids and love each other but can?t get married.

Still, let?s not be killjoys ? bring on the wedding!

Oscar 2012 Nominations: Biggest Snubs And Surprises

'Harry Potter,' Albert Brooks passed over, while Gary Oldman finally gets his due.
By Kevin P. Sullivan

We now have the answer to one of awards season's biggest questions: We know who has been nominated for the 2012 Academy Awards. All we need to know now is who wins. This year's Oscar nominations didn't offer any enormous surprises, but a few of the snubs have some people gasping.

Right off the bat, it must be addressed. Albert Brooks was not nominated for his delightfully evil turn in "Drive." Both Brooks and the film have a passionate following, so Max von Sydow's nomination for "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close" over Brooks can't come as welcome news for the movie's many fans. Brooks hilariously responded to the snub over Twitter, saying, "I got ROBBED. I don't mean the Oscars, I mean literally. My pants and shoes have been stolen." That's it, Al. Kill them with laughter.

But let's not focus on the negative. A great injustice was righted with the nominations. Gary Oldman's nod for "Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy" didn't come as a complete surprise, but it was a welcome one. Shockingly, the famed British actor had never been nominated before now. After decades of memorable characters, Oldman has finally gotten his due. He and the Best Actor category's other surprise, Demián Bichir from "A Better Life," edged out category favorites Leonardo DiCaprio for "J. Edgar" and Michael Fassbender for "Shame."

Two dark horses, "The Tree of Life" and "Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close," shocked with major nominations after staying near the rear of the pack for most of awards season. Both earned Best Picture nominations, bringing the total number of nominees to nine, one less than the maximum limit. The elusive Terrence Malick scored a nomination for directing "Tree of Life," and film legend von Sydow made the cut for his supporting role in "Extremely Loud."

Rooney Mara's Best Actress nomination made for a minor surprise. Her nod was the only major nomination for "The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo," which was passed over for Best Picture, Director and Writing. Perhaps the biggest oversight from "Dragon Tattoo" was the hypnotic score from Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross, last year's Best Score winners for "The Social Network."

The nomination that may have brought on some of the biggest cheers around the country was the Best Supporting Actress nod for the breakout star from "Bridesmaids," Melissa McCarthy. She had been passed over for a Golden Globe nomination, but she made the Oscar cut along with her co-star Kristen Wiig, who was nominated for co-writing the screenplay.

Not everybody took the Oscar hopes for "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part 2" seriously, and indeed, the biggest movie of 2011 failed to earn a nomination for Best Picture. Fans had also made a push for a Best Supporting Actor nomination for Alan Rickman, but he didn't make the cut either.

You couldn't have given that tenth Best Picture spot to the boy who lived, Academy?

Selena Gomez Locks In Next Film Project

'Wizards of Waverly Place' star is attached to produce 'The Sky is Everywhere.'
By Jocelyn Vena

Selena Gomez
Photo: Frazer Harrison/ Getty Images

As Selena Gomez maps out her post-"Wizards of Waverly Place" career, her projects continue to be more and more diverse.

Gomez is attached to produce and most likely star in the big-screen adaptation of the Jandy Nelson novel "The Sky is Everywhere." Gomez will not only play the part of producer but could potentially land the novel's lead role of Lennie Walker, Deadline reports.

Lennie is a 17-year-old nerd-type who loses her older, outgoing sister, Bailey. After Bailey dies, Lennie must step out of her sister's shadow when she falls for two guys (one of whom was Bailey's boyfriend). No word on who is attached to star in the other key parts of the movie. Before she hits the set for "The Sky is Everywhere," Gomez already has some other films lined up. The actress/singer will shoot the darker "Spring Breakers" early this year and has been rumored to be attached to a film called "Hot Mess."

When Gomez spoke to MTV News late last year, she shared that she didn't have any big expectations going into 2012. It seems that game plan is working for her. "I feel like this approach of this year, I wasn't expecting any of the things that happened," she said. "And so I just kind of want to go into the end of this year and the beginning of next year just excited and in a good place and not planning anything."

These Stars' Beautiful Looks Took Center Stage At The Golden Globes!

goldenglobes4.jpg
Award show season is in full effect! You know what that means ? gorgeous hair and drool-worthy makeup looks from your favorite stars, of course! Highlights from the Golden Globes include Emma Stone's cool chignon and Katharine McPhee's natural look. Hollywood's top glam squad talent shared their inspiration, how-to steps and the L?Oral Paris and Matrix products needed to recreate these to-die-for looks ? so now you can get the same glam on for your next fancy fte!

For Emma, stylist Mara Roszak aimed to complement The Help star's eggplant Lanvin gown with a similar edge and effortless style. "We stayed away from anything too romantic," says Roszak. "The rougher texture was key in achieving the goal of the style ? a strong feel while remaining feminine." Meanwhile, makeup artist Lauren Andersen took a fresh-faced and youthful approach with Katharine. "This beauty look was very sweet," Andersen says. "I used the flower, Baby's Breath, as my inspiration for creating a look for Katharine that was simple and natural."

Emma's step-by-step how-to:
1. Starting with wet hair, applied Matrix Total Results Amplify Foam Volumizer ($15, matrix.com for salon locations).
2. Using your hands, rough-up dried hair to accentuate natural texture.
3. Used a 1? barrel curling iron, touch up natural wave throughout.
4. Take a dab of Matrix Total Results Curl Contouring Lotion ($15, matrix.com for salon locations) to tame any extra frizz throughout the hair ? and to give it a bit more definition.
5. Pulled hair back loosely, letting the front of the hair and pieces around the face fall out naturally.
6. Twist ends of hair and pull back to create a loose, messy chignon in the back, letting the front of the hair and pieces around the face fall out.
7. Once hair was back and pinned, drop the hair into the messy bun shape, pinning and wrapping each piece individually.
8. To secure the style, use Biolage Freeze Fix Hair Spray ($15, matrix.com for salon locations).
9. This one's optional, but Emma pinned a Lanvin hair accessory for extra glam.

Katharine's step-by-step how-to:
1. To create the base for her look, Andersen started with Cl de Peau Beaut Refining Fluid Foundation (SPF 24).
2. Next, Andersen applied L?Oral Paris Magic Smooth Souffl Blush in Celestial ($13, drugstores) to the apples of Katharine?s cheeks for a soft, natural flush.
3. On the Smash star's eyes, Andersen swiped L?Oral Paris Infallible Eye Shadow in Iced Latte ($8, drugstores) across the lids, blending it into the crease for a sultry, warm smoky eye.
4. With a light hand, Andersen also thinly lined the eyes with L?Oral Paris Voluminous Smoldering Eyeliner in Brown ($9, drugstores) to deepen the look of lashes, which she coated with L?Oral Paris Voluminous Million Lashes Mascara ($9, drugstores).
5. Her lips? Andersen used Dior Rouge Contour Lip Liner in Linen and L?Oral Paris Infallible Gloss 8HR in Petal ($10, drugstores).
6. Finally, Andersen finished Katharine's look with a dusting of YSL Poudre Sur Mesure ? a semi-loose powder in neutral to set the overall look.
