After working the waiver wire to the max last week with four new additions to their roster, the Packers did a little paring Tuesday, releasing DE Michael Montgomery.
Montgomery, a sixth-round draft pick by the Packers in 2005 who re-signed with the team on Oct. 15, has been listed most of the season as the third-string left defensive end behind Ryan Pickett and Jarius Wynn. He had appeared in two games for Green Bay this season.
The way we see it
Montgomery had essentially been taking up space, and some roster spots need to open up if the Packers are planning on activating CB Al Harris and SS Atari Bigby off the physically-unable-to-perform list. A decision needs to be made on Harris and Bigby before next Monday.
