Current undisputed UFC heavyweight champion Brock Lesnar says that the training he's been doing to prepare for his next challenger has him ready to go come UFC 121 on Saturday.
The champ squares off against undefeated Cain Velasquez, a fighter who poses serious problems for Lesnar, but the champ doesn't seem phased by the challenge.
"If his conditioning is that great, then I guess we'll see. All I ever hear about is Cain Velasquez's conditioning. Well, I wrestled at the University of Minnesota. I?m a former NCAA champion," Lesnar told Sherdog.com, an MMA website, "From the beginning [of my MMA career], we?ve always trained to go 25 minutes. It would be unprofessional for me to not show up in good shape.?
There were doubts about Lesnar's fitness, given the brief layoff between this fight and the champion's clash with Shane Carwin at UFC 116. However, Brock thinks the quick turnaround might have actually helped him be ready to fight.
"It actually worked out really well," Lesnar told Sherdog, "I took a week off and then went back into training camp. So no, I?m happy with how it turned out.?
