Packers-Vikings series tidbits

The sparks always fly whenever the Packers and Vikings get together. Here is a handful of pertinent series factoids courtesy of the Packers' most recent weekly press release with the teams' highly anticipated first meeting of the season just four days away.

• This will be the 99th meeting between the border rivals.

• The Packers own a slight advantage over the Vikings (49-48-1, including playoffs) in the all-time series.

• The series began when the Vikings entered the NFL in 1961. Vince Lombardi's Packers won nine of the first 10 meetings.

• These teams have accounted for 12 NFC Central/North division championships in the past 16 seasons.

• The Packers boasted a five-game winning streak that was broken in 2008. It was the longest streak for either team since Green Bay won five in a row from 1983-85.
