Each awards show presents a fresh opportunity for an actor ? the chance to practice their surprised face, the chance to collect something gold and shiny, the chance to pretend not to look disappointed and, most importantly, the chance to make spectacularly bad style choices.
Fortunately, or unfortunately (depending on the way you look at it) there weren?t any major style no nos on the red carpet at last night?s Emmy Awards.
The majority of celebrities played it safe in fairly unadventurous frocks including the likes of Heidi Klum, Hayden Panettiere, Giniffer Goodwin and Kat Dennings. Some stars even managed to dazzle, particularly Mad Men ladies January Jones and Jessica Pare.
But that?s not to say there weren?t any ugly outfits on show at the ceremony, just none especially disastrous. Ashley Judd?s look was just ill considered, as was Julianne Moore?s and the less we say about Sofia Vergara?s frock the better.
