Fantasy football owners have to hedge their bets a little bit here. A healthy running back Pierre Thomas meant the Saints might let their run game do the talking Sunday against the Panthers and not expose quarterback Drew Brees to hits in the pocket.Brees, who is listed as questionable, will likely wear a brace on his "sore" left knee. Carolina is 0-3, but it has some fast pass rushers who could get on Brees in a hurry.
"Each day the soreness has gone away so he's doing well," coach Sean Payton said of Brees.
Thomas has a knee injury and is listed as questionable for Sunday, according to Payton. Thomas was limited in practice. It might mean the Saints pass early to open up the run game for rookie Chris Ivory, who backs up Thomas.
Ivory needs to be over his fumble last week against the Falcons. Several of the Falcons said that after he fumbled, Ivory was more tentative with the ball, guarding against another mistake.
He has explosiveness and Ivory will get his chances Sunday, perhaps nine to 10 carries.
